Latest Comedy Movies

Moviegoers are still showing up for comedies rather than dramas, and Hollywood studios have definitely caught on to the fact that funny films - if they're done well - attract big business at the box office. Among the batch of comedy movies hitting theaters in 2011 are a couple of sequels (The Hangover Part 2, New Year's Eve, and the fourth Pirates film and Spy Kids movie) as well as films featuring familiar comedy stars (Ben Stiller, Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, Rowan Atkinson, and Adam Sandler). Check out this list of comedy movies hitting theaters throughout 2011 (listed in order of release) to see if there's something that has the potential to make you laugh out loud.

1. 'The Dilemma'

The Plot: Since college, confirmed bachelor Ronny (Vince Vaughn) and happily married Nick (Kevin James) have been through thick and thin. Now partners in an auto design firm, the two pals are vying to land a dream project that would launch their company. With Ronny’s girlfriend, Beth (Jennifer Connelly), and Nick’s wife, Geneva (Winona Ryder), by their sides, they’re unbeatable.

But Ronny’s world is turned upside down when he inadvertently sees Geneva out with another man and makes it his mission to get answers. As the amateur investigation dissolves his world into comic mayhem, he learns that Nick has a few secrets of his own. Now, with the clock ticking and pressure mounting on the biggest presentation of their careers, Ronny must decide how and when he will reveal the truth to his best friend.

2. 'No Strings Attached'

The Plot: Emma (Natalie Portman) and Adam (Ashton Kutcher) are life-long friends who almost ruin everything by having sex one morning.  In order to protect their friendship, they make a pact to keep their relationship strictly “no strings attached.”  "No strings" means no jealousy, no expectations, no fighting, no flowers, no baby voices.  It means they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, in whatever public place they want, as long as they don't fall in love.  The question becomes- who's going to fall first?  And can their friendship survive?

3. 'Just Go With It'

The Plot: In Just Go With It, a plastic surgeon, romancing a much younger schoolteacher, enlists his loyal assistant to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife, in order to cover up a careless lie. When more lies backfire, the assistant's kids become involved, and everyone heads off for a weekend in Hawaii that will change all their lives.

4. 'Hall Pass'

The Plot: Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis) are best friends who have a lot in common, including the fact that they have each been married for many years. But when the two men begin to show signs of restlessness at home, their wives (Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate) take a bold approach to revitalizing their marriages: granting them a "hall pass," one week of freedom to do whatever they want...no questions asked. At first, it sounds like a dream come true for Rick and Fred. But it isn't long before they discover that their expectations of the single life--and themselves--are completely, and hilariously, out of sync with reality.

5. 'Take Me Home Tonight'

6. 'Paul'

The Plot: Paul is a comedy about two sci-fi geeks who embark upon a pilgrimage in a RV to the center of America's UFO heartland: Nevada's infamous Area 51. While in the middle of that desert, the two friends encounter a fugitive alien by the name of Paul. Somewhat reluctantly, they embark upon an adventure that will change not just their lives forever, but also the lives of the friends and enemies they encounter along the way.

7. 'Hop'

The Plot: Blending state-of-the-art animation with live action, Hop tells the comic tale of Fred (James Marsden), an out-of-work slacker who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny (voiced by Russell Brand) and must take him in as he recovers. As Fred struggles with the world's worst houseguest, both will learn what it takes to finally grow up.

8. 'Arthur'

As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent's fiancée before their kingdom is destroyed.

10. 'Prom'

For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one "Prom."
